This poster was one of the many that were released. My first impression of it was that it was really full and had a lot going on. There was a lot of writing and images all over the place and the layout also wasn’t helping either. The background of the poster is an image. This image is really big and takes up all of the space of the poster. The image has had effects added to it which makes it even busier. Then over that we have a bunch of other stuff like the film title, character images and billing block along with other section of other information. The colours are quite dull but do not complement each other as they are all mixed. The background image used is very disturbing and this tells us and gives us an idea of what the film will be about and what will maybe happen. We are also introduced to the characters as they are also featured on the poster.

The Posesion poster analysis
The film poster for The Thing is slightly different from other poster as it does not share the same elements as others. This poster starts off with how it is made by the same makers of another film. The film it has mentioned was a hit also so this is a technique to maybe get an audience. This is placed in the middle top of the poster, but not completely at the top, it is slightly lower down. This is in again a simple font and it is all in capitals. The colour of this is white and this really stands out on the black background which is used throughout the whole of the poster. The font is slightly slanted and is in italics. Below this is the image of the poster and it’s also acts as the tittle of the film, this is in the middle of the poster. This is an image but is mainly text. It is in bubble writing and is white, and in this writing we see an image. This image appears to be like a creature and we assume that this is what the film is about which is also the title; ‘The Thing.’
Below this image/tittle we have the tag line which is ‘IT’S NOT HUMAN.YET’ the tagline is in capital letters and is directly below the image/title. This is also in a medium dark grey colour and again this stands out over the black background. Below this he have in the bottom middle the date of the film release, this is in red and really stands out and is very visible, below that is a link to the official website. Beside this on either side we have a really small information box which lists the production company and institution and other information. And we have the same on the other side. Both these boxes are really small and are really hard to see. They are in a grey colour so you can tell there is something there but you can’t tell what it is and what it says. I really like the simplicity of this poster but I think it could be clearer as some parts seem to barley being there.
