The Thing 2011 trailer

Establishing- there is a variation of shots throughout the trailer. We see a mixture of long and shorts shot and close ups too. Charters are really shown off.
Contextualised- the production company and institution are shown many times throughout the trailer but at different parts. Plot is kind of revealed when we learn that it is about something, which is also the title of the film. Many characters are also show and revealed along with the character and role they play.
Anticipation- trailer starts off with the universal logo, and then moves in to the main part. Change in shots is gradual and smooth and is done with a slight faded effect.  Shots are quite wide and clear. Then editing speeds up slightly.  Sound effects are given every time a shot changes and normal, like when water is dripping there is an effect for it.  Colours are a bit dark and shady. Mid way again the log for Universal is shown. And this sequence is repeated when we see some film, then text, then film and then text. The trailer ends with the date of the film’s release.

The Posesion trailer

Beyonce

Beyonce- Countdown
For the social aspect the audience would copy her style and her clotyhes that she is wearing. Also the clothes could be copied.
For entertainment people will watch the videos as they might be a fan of their work or if they lke her past
videos and the male audinces will find hr attractive.
Personal identity will make people want to look like her and be like her.

She was able to attract a wide audince group, in persific people who like the swedish choreographer as her fans will like the thing that beyonce imintataes in her video.
The colours that are worn and the outfits are also ones that have been copied from other styles like Audrey Hempher and other famous artists.
This was also linked to her pregnancy as she hints it out many times through he song

Final Films

Smiley 2012 (low budget)

The Budget- ....
The Gross-.....
Institution- Level 10 Films
Director- Michael J. Gallagher
Mareketing Styles- For this film there were very little marketing styles used, if not any ata ll. This film was not hyped up as much as it was a unseccefull film. There was some emntion about it on home websites but apart from that there was nothing really.

The Possesion 2012 (high budget)

The Budget- $14,000,000
The Gross- $49,000,000
Institution- Ghost House Productions
Director- Ole Bornedle
Mareketing Styles- For this film there were many marketing styles. The first one would be the offical website for the movie. This is place were you can read about the film and find out other infomation. An ither style would be the trailer, trailers are made to show the audinece what is to come in the film and act as a taster and give you a chance to see some of the film and what it will be like.

The Thing 2011 (genre buster)

The Budget-$38,000,000
The Gross-$17,000,000
Institution- Universal Pictures
Director-  Mathejiss van Heignihijjer Jr
Mareketing Styles- This film can be seen as having a head start in the marketting ctategory. As there was already a existing film called The Thing and this was a sequel so we learn that this film will already be popular, even it is yet to be reased it will still have a already existing fan base so this can be seen as one style of marketing. Websites are also a way of marketing aswell as posters. Another marketing style is the trailer. trailers are made to show the audinece what is to come in the film and act as a taster,

Horror Conventions

The codes and conventions of horror films I think are mostly the same. Sex, drugs, goasts, spirits, death is often what you expect in a horror film and that is what you pretty much get. I think at this very moment horror is going through a majour crisis as there is no originltiy left. Pretty much every horro film you have seen or will see all tie in together and there are a very little amount of films that are horror and are unique. I cant think of a film that was a horror and was differnt, however I think no one can really be blame as it is that type of a genre that does make it hard to come up with something good.

Whatever is said in horror films is also repetaive. 'who's there' is a phrases we have probabbly heard over a million times in horror film. Screaming, shouting and crying is also the same. I think all films lack originlity and we are in need of a good and differnt horror movie.
Props used I horror fils are also the same, almost evey horror film will have a knife used, if not then a axe, gun or another weapon that can kill. We also see the same typical people in horror film, a villian- which can be either supernatrual, a ghoast or spirit or normal and a hero. We also often the little children to make it extra better, I admit it does make it a slight more interesting but it is getting a bit old now.

I think the film that set the bar for all theese horror conventions and codes was Scream. this was the main big film in which we saw it all and in this we see they are all well embedded.

Some codes and conventions horror films follow are
  • Use of low key lighting
  • low angle shots
  • high age rating like 15 or 18
  • blurred sound
  • young aged characters

The possesion

This film is a supernatraul horror film to do with exorcism. it was realaesed this year around Octobe rtime so the film is still quite new. after watching this film the first time i didjnt really like it as i thought it was a bit boring. the film is aout a young girl wh buys a old box from a yard sale and then becuase of it becomes possesed as it had a aceincient spirit wit in it, which i think was a bit predictable as i instantly thougth it would be something like that.
The Possession PosterThe reason why i did find it a bit boring was becuase it was just a nother typical exorsicm film and it was predictable. I think the film was ok as it had many partwhich were nice but overall i didnt really enjoy the film a a whole, but I know some people that found it amazing and really enjoyed it. It got a rating of 5.9 which can be considered as good ut i think it could have been better.
There were some parts with in the film where you did jump and you did become grossed out, but it wasnt as i expected a si thpught the fil would be alot better.

The Ring

This film is from year 2002 is a pyschological horror film based around a ring and a little girl and is about a tape which is like a myth and a investigator is after it. When I first watched the film I was really freaked out by it as I found it really scary as I was younger when I did watch it and I still would find it scary if I was to wath it again as I think it really makes you jump alot at many parts. The film is inspired by Japeneese horror nd i think tis was a really good idea as it was a good film. the rating it got on IMBD was a 7.1 out of 10 which i think it a really high rating. The budget of the film was 48 million but it made over 128 million which it a large profit, this shows the film was really succesfull. the age rating on this film is a 15 which shows again gives you a idea of how the film will be.

It includes many elements that scrae you and arevery disturbing which i think makes the film even better. over all i think this film want a dissapointment and i think financially it was very successful and i think it is a good film to watch.
